LOS ANGELES DOCTORS SYMPHONY PRESENTS YOUNG PIANISTS IN CONCERT

Three young winners of the annual piano competition of the West Los Angeles Chapter of the Music Teachers Association of California will perform with the Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, February 4 at 2:30PM at the Culver City Veterans Memorial Auditorium, in Culver City. This event is made possible, in part, by grants from the Recording Academy’s third annual GRAMMY Fest and the Culver City Human Services Department. Admission and parking are free.

Under the baton of music director, Ivan Shulman, the concert will feature each young soloist playing one movement of Saint-Saens’s Piano Concerto, No. 2. The orchestra will also perform the “Outdoor Overture” by Aaron Copland, in honor of the composer’s birth centennial. “Courage” by Adrienne Albert, and Khatchaturian’s “Masquerade Suite” will complete the program. “Courage” was written in honor of Ivan Shulman and the Orchestra by Adrienne Albert, a local composer.

GRAMMY Fest is a month-long celebration held in conjunction with the 43rd Annual GRAMMY Awards which will be held on Feb. 21, 2001. Further information about Fest activities can be found at www.GRAMMY.com.
